Armor of God pt 6
Sword of the Spirit.
"12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)
To divide something as interwoven as soul and spirit...the blade has got to be sharp!
So it is with our ability to live a distinguished life in the Lord."As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." (Proverbs 27:17)
If you don't know the Word it's really hard to use the Word and benefit from the advantages of having this weapon ready to be used at will...
"The sword is both an offensive and defensive weapon used by soldiers or warriors. In this case it is a weapon belonging to the Holy Spirit. Swords were used to protect oneself from harm or to attack the enemy to overcome or kill him. In both cases it was necessary for a soldier to get rigid training on the proper use of the sword to get maximum protection. All Christian soldiers need the same rigid training to know how to properly handle the Sword of the Spirit" (Gotquestions)
What the sword does:
a. Strengthens us
b. Protects us
c. Grows us

"16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." (Ephesians 6:16-17)
