Teaching on Spirits: Day 31

Why is Satan called the prince of the power of the air?

When Adam & Eve ate of the fruit they inherently gave away their God given dominion. Power was usurped from them (See: Genesis 1:26-28).

Eve says, "The serpent deceived me" (Genesis 3:13). The reason for deception is to allow the deceiver to gain some sort of advantage. At this instance in time, Satan was now able to exercise dominion over humankind and the earth. This is why SOMEONE had to come and take that power / authority back, to reverse the consequences of death that came from eating of the fruit. This someone is Jesus (See: Romans 6:9, Rev. 1:17-18).

"And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience." (Ephesians 2:1-2)

world- physical creation as well as the systems / ideologies of the world

prince- ruler over a sphere (space with defined boundaries) where influence can be exerted

power- authority

of the air- refers to the heavenly sphere (often cited as the 2nd heaven where spiritual warfare takes place)

As a result of Jesus' ministry, death, and resurrection those who believe in him are not "ruled" by the chief prince of darkness but are still open to influence by him, whether directly through our thoughts and actions, or indirectly through the thoughts and actions of others.

If you're wondering why there are churches mixing in other religions, how a beloved son in the oval office can give guidance contrary to the faith he supposedly belongs to, and ....every other manner of evil, such as officers getting acquitted left and right....this is why.

‪#‎reflection‬

"All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages.
...
And so he plays his part.
The sixth age shifts
...
Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything."
(As You Like It, William Shakespeare)

"Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea." (Revelation 21:1)
