Teaching on Spirits: Day 13

Where do demons hide?

You're probably thinking: "Demons...hide?!" Yes. They do. But where?

On Day8 we talked about how man is a tripatrite being (made up of 3 parts); spirit, body, and soul. Body is our "flesh", soul is comprised of our mind will and emotions, and our spirit is the living "breath" that communicates with God and allows us to make connections with others in a variety of ways whether spiritually or naturally.

Demons are disembodied, which means they have no body of their own. This implies that in order to do certain types of inflicting damage they must have a host [kind of like how a dameon / program runs in the background on a host machine / computer](See: Matthew 12:43-45)

If they don't have a body they roam about. Remember when God asked Satan what he had been doing? His reply: "...roaming about the earth..." (See: Job 1:6-7)

Somewhere else it says that he "WALKS about SEEKING whom he may devour." (See: 1 Peter 5:8)

This also points to the restless nature of the demonic (and subsequently why those who end up in a place of torment are without peace).

Specifically when Jesus tells a demon to "come out" of someone, where (or what part of that person) are they coming out of? (See: Mark 5:1-18)

Our spirit (life) is given to us by God and the Holy Spirit dwells inside us (when we become Christian)...

Demons need a body to inflict damage from within...

Therefore...demons hide in our bodies.

They can affect the mind, will, and emotions, but they cannot take our spirit / life away (on their own).

If demons hide in our bodies (and by hiding I mean that this is where they reside...hopefully temporarily), what implications might that have for us as tripartite beings?
