Are you angry with us still?! #GodBless

Things are looking mighty bleak in the world these days.

What seems to be an abundance of famine, lack of nutrition, and greed. Terrible storms sweep through and overturn years of ecological foundation. Family members turning on each other.

What (in) the hell is going on?!

I honestly don't know but maybe as some suggest...God is angry with us; still.

19 You, O Lord, remain forever;
Your throne from generation to generation.
20 Why do You forget us forever,
And forsake us for so long a time?
21 Turn us back to You, O Lord, and we will be restored;
Renew our days as of old,
22 Unless You have utterly rejected us,
And are very angry with us!

Amen.

I got to give it to Charlie Sheen. The man laid down one show and simply moved on to another one #winning. What it must be like to have options.

Have you seen his "new" show Anger Management? I saw what was maybe the first 2 episodes of the season. Not bad at all. Mostly because I'm interested in mental health, but also because these "characters" represent real people out in the world. It's important to know how others think and why they think the way they do.

Anger is a pretty dangerous emotion if you're not careful. I know I've had my share of #oops moments where I said or did something based on the way I felt. What about you??? Do you know what it's like to be angry only to lose your cool and make a mess of things?

Here's another thought though: In many cases (unless we've trained ourselves) when we are angry, things tend to turn out in a not so nice way. What's it like when God's angry?

I mean, think about it. Day in and day out (especially in America) we hear how God is angry with us because of all the sin (e.g. Sexual immorality, rage, slander, greed, fear, etc.) that we have allowed to run rampant in the world. We haven't upheld our end of the "bargain" and because of this our current situation as a society is nothing short of being some form of punishment.

A good question would be: How long is this punishment going to last? Or perhaps, whose mistakes are we being punished for anyway? I mean, if you've been a good person why suffer because of something someone else did (or is doing)?

Things might just get worse before they get any better. Wars and rumors of the same. Exclamatory claims of food and product shortages here and there.

In the New Living Translation, Lamentations 5:22 is translated as: "...Are you angry with us still?"

Some schools of thought suggest that God is not a punitive god. I'm not trying to argue that line of thinking. You can go through the Bible and see that he is. He has a vast amount of characteristics which can be applied including merciful, jealous, vengeful, and just.

Thinking on that last mentioned characteristic...since God is just shouldn't we be okay with things that happen as a result of our (mis)behaving (i.e. Accept the punishments which come our way)?

4 You’re the One I’ve violated, and you’ve seen it all,
seen the full extent of my evil.
You have all the facts before you;
whatever you decide about me is fair.

Sometimes I wonder, if God is angry with us still will He ever subdue his anger (fully)?
If we are not to allow the sun to go down on our anger (Eph. 4:26), is the same true for Him.
Does the sun ever go down (i.e. set)  from his perspective?

May God bless us to understand why he angers, when he is angry, and what we must do not to anger him.
