Different Animal. Same Beast. #theSystem

U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S...okay, I think that's enough.

Congratulations to all of the Olympic Athletes on a job well done and more importantly embracing/demonstrating the spirit of the Olympics in London during this past Summer Olympics!

Ya' know, the thing about athletes is that they have this AMAZING control over their body. It's as if they're able to perform feats that us normal, feeble humans can only dream of. Besides their innate ability to display almost every muscle that's a part of their body, they also seem to demonstrate the "edges" of the peak physical performance spectrum. I for one am not there yet, but I'm trying...

Didn't get a chance to watch much of the Olympics; however, while getting updates from the "best" social network of all time, I came across this featuring our beloved #kanye:

SN: When I saw this initially I thought it was pretty funny. Why?! For one I'm a Kobe fan...and I like Kanye. Secondly, this makes Kobe out to be a decent actor. As for Kanye...he's still Ye.

Back to the athletes. They are the best in the world. They compete as much to represent their countries as they do to have a once in a lifetime opportunity to see who's #1.

What does the #kobeSystem #kanyeWest and Olympia have to do with us?!

Sometimes we get to a place where we've grown tremendously from where we used to be. Questions of: "What next?!", "How far have I come?", and "Can I really do this?" may come to mind. Don't forget that somewhere deep down inside...even though you are the "best" (or better than you were), there's part of you that remains from what was "you" before you got there.

In essence, you're a different animal...but the same beast. Likewise, you're a different animal AND the same beast.

So, what does this mean? It's simple really.

We grow as human beings. Physically, mentally, emotionally...and in other ways as well. No matter how much growth we experience there's always the ability for us to fall back to our old habits, old way of doing things, become a glimpse of our former selves.

When you get a promotion in your job you are generally expected to do more because there's a greater level of responsibility. In some cases you may continue to do what you did in your former position even in the midst of having greater responsibilities, requirements, and expectations. The trick though is understanding that as you have evolved to a newer level, you still carry with you the same tendencies that you had at the previous level. This includes habits learned both good and bad.

In the process of evolution we grow, expand, and become "stretched out" as we approach (hopefully) the point in time where we are closer to how God sees us; who we were made to be. Despite the growth, promotion and general good that may be going on in our lives, on our jobs, and in our relationships with people we must remember that we always have the ability to be a different animal; however, this doesn't mean that we'll be a different beast. There's no way to fully get rid of what we've been before or who we were, at best we can hope to mitigate our weaknesses, mistakes, and fallacies.

If indeed you do find a way to reach what is "Level 6: Beastion" of the #kobeSystem, and become a different animal while simultaneously becoming a different beast, kudos to you. Please also share with us as I am still trying to figure this one out. Ya' know how you hear the phrase, "That's the nature of the beast"? Perhaps the type of "beast" you are is directly connected to how much you've evolved as an animal. #food4Thought

In Christianity, there's a thought that once one gives their life to Christ they become a new creature. Well, in this instance the individual has become a different animal. It seems that at the same time they have (the opportunity to) become a different beast.

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.[a
The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
[a]: Creature

I'm going to break that up into two-halves to show you the "different animal" and "different beast" concepts:

The first part talks about being a new creation (i.e. A different animal). The latter goes on to speak about old things passing away and the new coming (i.e. A different beast). What does it mean to be a different animal? This means that you're not who you used to be. What does it mean to be a different beast? To be a different beast in this context alludes to one not being controlled by their fleshly desires (e.g. Lust, Malice, Rage, etc.) by coming under the "control" of something (i.e. Holy Spirit) that yields to a more positive and prosperous living which pleases the Lord. Even though you may become a different beast, you are still "open" to acting as you have before #its_calledChoice

In a more eloquent way: Certain growth leads to noticeable change. Just because you've grown in certain areas, doesn't mean you've been transformed. I can become more physically fit, intellectually savvy, or gain better control over my emotions. This does not automatically mean that I've had a complete makeover or transformation. To become a different beast is to transform. Before you can become a different beast, you must first become a different animal. The beast-like tendencies are those that are within. Those which are deep inside you, at the pits of your soul...the stuff that comes out when you finally realize, "I guess I didn't know my own strength"...or "This is what I'm really made of"...or "I gave it all I had". Often times the beast is something which can not be tamed; however, you can become the type of beast that would be most beneficial. Just as the beast can produce a lot of good, it can also produce a lot of bad. There are a number of things you can change, but as long as you play the game of life understand that the "flesh is a beast".

In Christ is the opportunity to become "a different animal" and "a different beast". Personally, I'm working on becoming a different beast. I'm not the best, but I do see myself as being "a different animal but the same beast".  Choose your beast wisely #beastMode
