#itNvrStops

Social Network Status on November 22, 2011:
O-M-G! What gives with this whole school thing anyways...even with the break that's here all I can think about is how I'm not making the cut. This standard is so HIIIIGH...is it even attainable?!?! #itNvrStops

The greatest news ever became available on Saturday November 27, some time in the wee hours of the morning...the NBA lockout is over! Of course this was only a tentative agreement (at the time), but how exciting to know that one of America's favorite past times is on it's way to being in the spotlight once again.

I find it funny though that the NBA lockout went as long as it did. Apparently this is the fourth time this has occurred yet some very famous and well known apparel company showed commercials that made us all #witnesses to the fact that "basketball never stops". I chuckled when I saw the media advertisements. What a way to capitalize on what was going on as employees of the sport arenas sat back wondering if they might return to work.

I am truly glad that things will be back in full swing shortly, after 5 months of laboring. Why they decided to start games on Christmas day is unbeknownst to me...I'll take it.

This got me thinking though...what are some other things that #neverStop?
  1. Life
  2. School
  3. Life
  4. ....did I mention...school & life?

This semester and more specifically since June of this year I've been extremely busy. There's so much going on. Whether it's school work, ministry, or trying to find time to myself so that I can catch a breather #itNvrStops.

#can'tStop
I'm reminded of how it seems that as long as I've been in school there's always been some type of health issue that has made me focus and get a better grasp of my environment and the decisions that I make. For some reason things always tend to creep up just in time for graduation, or the last year leading up to it. It's "always something" with me...and it's true; I've got stories!

There was middle school when it all started. High school when it continued on. Undergrad when I still hand't learned my lesson and graduate school when I had started getting the hang of things and made a few wrong turns. Despite all of this I've learned the importance of persevering in my commitments, or whatever tasks I've been assigned to complete #servanthood.

#wontStop
Even though I'm in school full-time I've also been working on some "extracurricular" school projects.

The first is Don't Struggle Like....I Did (DSL_ID), a support group for the students within my department. I proposed this back in April of this year and it's been well received by the students, faculty and staff. There's also a potential opportunity for it too expand #veryExciting. I've pretty much been responsible for the structure up to this point with a much noted emphasis of being sensitive to the needs of the students and more importantly whatever the Lord would have me to do.

The second project is Veritas. Veritas is Latin for truth. It's also a part of Harvard's seal. I just so happen to have visited the Harvard area recently and thought it was awesome once it dawned on me that I was at Harvard...(story for another day; I wasn't always Ivy league material).

On February 25, 2012 @7pm Carnegie Mellon University will host it's first Veritas Forum...or at least the first in recent history. It's going to be...#breathtaking. Essentially the forum is a place where folks come together to discuss a topic of interest with an emphasis on how it is viewed from multiple "world views".

SideNote: Worldview sounds so politically correct. Thank you Lord for bringing me to Pittsburgh by starting me off defending the faith; now I hear others talk about theirs with even more of an open mind.

Back to the story...

Andrew Carnegie is quoted as saying, "My Heart is in the Work". My response to that is "why do we work so hard"? Well, I believe it's cyclical. My heart is in the work -> But why do I work so hard-> b\c my heart is in the work....#repeat

The topic for this forum is.... #deepbreath
The Meaning of Work, the Universe and Everything:
Humanist, Agnostic and Christian Professors Discuss the Purpose of Work
And...we have 2 hours to cover "the meaning of work, the universe and everything" #lol. It shall be interesting. We have 3 of CMU's very own amazing professors who are sure to dazzle, delight, and divulge what work means to them and why they work as hard as they do, if at all.

So you could say that on top of "feeding" people whatever it is they need to get through their time of being here, I'm also being fed myself because I am experiencing the very things I "preach" about.

Whatever it is that you must do...do it with passion, love every minute of it. If it does seem to be too much just say: "It Never Stops!"

And by the way...I had to stop just to do this and then I'm back at it again #myHeart.

  • Did this cause you to think of something that "never stops"?
  • Will it ever stop or do you need to learn how to go with the flow?
  • If needed too could you stop?
