SN: This country boy's on the rise #entrustment
So far there has been 1 Republican debate in the State of Florida (i.e. University of South Florida) before our beloved primary on January 31st.
The final one...is...about...to go....down @8pm EST on the campus of the beautiful University of North Florida (i.e. Jacksonville). After having this debate they'll need to travel to the University of West Florida, as well as the University of East Florida & all four "corners" of the cardinal directions will be covered.
More importantly, today marked another mishap in the ongoing saga of "What Not to Do Ahead of an Election" when Arizona Governor Jane Brewer performed an absolute "no-no".
She put her finger in the face of my President...
...but you know what?! I'm kewl with that...and I'll tell you why after the jump.
Romans 13:1 (ESV)
1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.
First off let me preface this by saying, I support my leaders...even if I don't like them. This goes beyond the current President. Back in August 2008 I was in the suburbs of Chicago, IL with family nonetheless watching what seems to be the Olympics as I reminisce...anywho, there was a statement made about then President Bush. Now, I'm not a theologian but had recently been digging through scripture and had come to an understanding that, "you don't have to like your leaders but you have to support them".
One family member (i.e. An elder in the family) made a comment about all of his "wrong doings" to which I immediately responded with said phrase, "you don't have to like...do have to support"; it's biblical. To my surprise there was silence, even from my grandfather, an "established" (i.e. Time served) preacher. It was during this time that I also understood, in order for me to truly appreciate the "change" which was on its way, I had to start by honoring the person who was currently holding the position. Did I agree with everything Bush did, you're darn right I didn't; however, I understood that this was about more than a title held by someone elected...
"You lie..."
and the other 75-85% for what he is...
"I'd like to cut..."(nevermind, you can read)
President Bush also endured his share of "persecution", although it may have been on a slightly different scale. I mean, what person didn't think it was funny when he would have his trouble with words like, nu-cle-ar.
How many black folk #hittingHome insisted on sharing there wide spread dissidence concerning how Bush was handling his responsibilities? One comedian was noted as saying, "There ain't a bush outside my house".
There's a lack of support for our leadership even among the elect and it's been this way for a long time.
My thought is this, "He's your boss. No one expects you to agree all the time, but why the blatant diss' yo?"
I feel at times we are simply getting all of that grief pushed back at us...you know, karma.
Of course President Obama will always be compared to the Presidents before him, and whoever comes after him (unlucky son-of-a-gun they'll be) will be compared in the same manner. Perhaps in hoping for a more peaceful future we can also hope that the treatment of our current Commander in Chief will change...soon.
So...Why am I okay with such blatant disrespect? On January 8 of this year I decided to send a letter to the man most responsible for the tumultuous environment currently looming over our country.
It started as such:
"Dear Mr. President,"....
"...one chosen to fulfill a role that takes guidance beyond that which any human can provide (Romans 13:1)."
Here are some other texts dealing with leadership:
- Hebrews 13:17(ESV) -Because they're responsible for you
- 2 Samuel 1:1-27 (MSG) -David mourns his predecessor turned enemy
- 1 Timothy 2:1-15 (NASB) -Peaceful lives for us all
Sumthn2Ponder(s2p):
- What will it take for Christians to start living by the book concerning the support of their leaders?
- Is Obama the most disrespected President in the history of the United States of America?
- If the next President is a minority...what you gon' do?! (i.e. Post-Obama...you know that's gonna become a phrase)
In case you need it
